Rumi Sculpture

In the name of God

Rumi, Mowlana, Mowlavi,… are names of a globally-known gnostic.

Portraits of him that we have today reflect the artists style at the time and these portraits have been attributed to other poets as well. There are no renditions nor Interpretations of mowlanas poems in these pictures.

Statuary, however, inspired by the poet mowlana and internal feelings and affected by such poems as “Moses and the shepherd”, “From my soil”, “My companion”, and”Listen to the pipe”, has tried to depict the grandeur and eminence of this poet of wisdom mounted on the pillar of global literature and gnosticism.

The magnificence of this great poets advice is depicted with his one hand toward the earthly lovers and his other hand toward God the unique creator to be worshipped, with his look cast high up above the horizon.

It portrays his bewilderment and enchantment in the twist of his cover and the secret of his poems as mysteries in the twist of his hair and beard.

The sculptor seeks to sculpt and represent a symbol of gnosticism by means of the art of affection and kindness (Persian miniature) as a sculpture which points to the internal secrets rather than the outward appearance.

This art work has been made of plaster added bit by bit to the volume because the artist believes that each bit of addition also adds to the artists beliefs and with each of his works of art he starts a journey.

The artist now intends to start a journey with the statue of a symbol of chastity ( Virgin Mary ).
